R1270, also known as propene (propylene), is a natural refrigerant with a very low global warming potential (GWP ≈ 2). It is characterised by high energy efficiency and good thermodynamic properties and is mainly used in industrial refrigeration systems and certain air conditioning applications. Due to its high flammability (safety class A3), special protective measures are required when using it. R1270 is considered an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic refrigerants.
